My Guide for Prayer from last week

Read Luke 1: 68-79

God has placed us here in this time and in this place for a reason. A reason that will bring Him glory, a reason that will honor Him, will lift up His name. The reason will look different for all of us. For the Hebrew people it was to write a story for the moment of Christ’s birth. Their journey was pointing toward His coming just as John the Baptist was a prophet of the most high.

Along their journey there was resistance due to fear or a lack of faith in God’s plan. Sometimes we have that same fear. The fear that makes us freeze in our tracks or go to what we know is comfortable. In the passage I just read in verse 74 it says
“to rescue us from the hand of our enemies,
and to enable us to serve him without fear”
I want us to rest in the promise that we have been rescued, which frees us up, to serve without fear.
Now this may seem like another opportunity to pray silently about what fears we have, but I want to turn it on its head and for your to pray as a group that we as a community may know that we are rescued and are now free from fear, that we can serve the Lord, Creator, God, and give glory to Him.
Focus on 3 things:
1. The growth of this community(Grace) in the Lord
2. The obedience to serve, to pursue our “reason” without fear
3. For those we know who are still in darkness, may we be a light to them and may they see Jesus through us

Want to capture your live show

There is no replacement for a live show. I mean if your band has great chemistry and plays well together you can get some killer moments going. Have you ever thought about recording one of your shows and selling it as a live disc or just using it to send out to get more shows. It would give the promoter a real sense of what they are booking. In our media section there is a photo of a live gig we just recorded in Dec of 11. It was amazing. Fully orchestra and choir! I used 2 AKG C1000s above the conductors head, 2 AT 4030s on the outside of the orchestra and 2 AT 3035 on the choir. It was in a huge church so the reverb was natural and lasted forever! We also have done live recordings of bands at 8 Great Tuesdays and other live venues around the area.
Also a great benefit to this is we can record you in your practice space. Do you get freaked out being in a real studio? We can also come to you house, garage, bedroom or where ever to get at least the scratch tracks down. So if you like to work on something this winter or have a gig recorded, drop us an email! Presidential Race!!!

ARRRGGGG!!!! Last night I caught a little bit of the debate of the REP. I could write a book on this subject but what I really want is to hear what you have to think about a couple of things. I know this can be a very passion filled subject so let’s try to keep things civil.

Ok, so it seems like that every person in this race as well as the current president has some really great ideas on how to take us to the next level and get us out of “trouble”. One example is Perry talked about having the congress be bi vocational and live under the same laws that they make and be only part time congress. Things like this would be great! Term limits for congress, a smaller congress, or any other things that the president or the congress wants to do has to be passes by the congress. I don’t know if those ideas are just bad and really shouldn’t happen or if the congress is more about themselves and not about the country and would never pass anything like this. So during these debates I hear great ideas, but they never talk about how they are doing to get the immovable object called congress to be on board with things like this.

Obama has had a “jobs” bill he has been trying to pass for months now and it hasn’t happened yet many because the congress hasn’t passed it. So now we can blame Obama for not creating more jobs. What? I am not saying that this plan is good, or would work or anything. The fact is we don’t know what it will do, but nor would we know what any new pres’s plan would do, but instead of saying we have to do something and let something fail or be wildly successful they will do nothing.
3 things for you to think about and respond to:

1. Term limits for congress 4,8,12 years. Get new people who aren’t worried at all about whether or not that will get re elected. That should never be the goal!!!! The goal should always be what is best for the people and I know they would argue that they are one in the same, but I see so many things that most people that vote would hate or love that happens or doesn’t happen while the flag of that isn’t what “my people” want. You wouldn’t have any idea what we want. I saw a special about district lines and I laughed bc they are drawing lines around neighborhoods they know wont elect them, just so they can get re elected!!! What? Get over yourself, be good at what you do, do what is needed and stop rigging the game so you always win and if it happens that it help everyone else out great!
2. Care!! this means you. Care enough to watch the news, and not just fox, or cnn, but lots of news stations. Get the full story! Care enough to think about what this coming election means for you. don’t just leave voting to those people that have time for that kind of thing. Cause the sad part is that we would rather complain for 4 or 8 years that spend 15 mins and vote. or a couple hours reading and watching and learning. Talk to other. Talk not yell and argue. It should never be about who can yell the loudest. Just listen to others and then rethink your position if need be.
3. Help start a movement. I can’t give you step by step instructions on how to do this, but when you find people that think the same join together. Don’t be a sell out, but be a supporter. Decide what is most important to you and find people that agree and move in a directions that supports those things.

Please feedback to me. I want my son and his kids to live in this great national along side others that love it here! And if it means changing a bit for a time that’s ok, but being run over by our Gov’nt isn’t cool

Pro Tools HD is HERE!!!!

Yep, that is right we have gone HD. Now we are still on 9 for now, or at least until Avid figures things out from their end. There has been a big uprising on the price of the upgrade and I know they will do the right thing whatever that is I cant say for sure, mainly because I don’t have all the facts.

What HD can offer you if you record at TMJ.
#1 VCA mixing is the thing I am most pumped about. VCAs are something I use every week mixing live and I have been using them for years before on other boards and have longed for it to be in Pro Tools LE. That didn’t happen, but this upgrade for us will make it happen.
#2 Low latency recording and tracking. Now I am going to be honest and say this is something that will happen in the not too distance future, but hasn’t happened yet. This is a major deal. To record with little to know delay in the play back and not have the computer struggling every second will save you TIME and MONEY!! Again, I dont have this yet, but it will be here soon.
#3 More tracks! Now i have access to 96 tracks.
#4 higher sample rate. I have been recording in 48K since the beginning and now I will move to 96K for most project from now on. This will increase the overall warmth of the sound of the recording.
#5 DSP on the card! This again will help with the CPU use and make the computer more responsive.

Pro Tools 10

They just announced Pro Tools 10. I know what I am getting for Christmas!! It looks sweet, but we will let others work out the bugs,and I will jump in a little bit. Check it out. Avid.com

Just because…

Ok, there are a lot of people, everyone from historians to scientist, theology masters, and the normal that believes in the bible and what it has to tell about the God that created us. There is also a group that claims that what the bible says is non sense. And often the people that believe the bible, we will call them group X, claim that bible is a pretty re-marketability reliable as a historical document, but on the other side the group I will call group A will claim that it is not all a historical doc at all. But here is the thing that I don’t think many people think about at all… Imagine yourself in the 9th century and you have an interest in what happened around 1 AD or so. You might have a few resources at best to look into without doing some really digging in the dirt. Then you read the bible, or have it read to you in that day in age and you realize that it has a lot of the same things in it that you found in other places, dates, times, series of events, locations etc. Then lets say that 100 people do this same thing over 50 years and most come up with the same findings.

So what I am saying is…….. Just because the bible was written by Christians and it has some pretty awesome claims, like the resurrection, water to wine, blind seeing and many others it doesn’t mean that we can’t use it for a good historical resource. I heard group A say that if that bible makes crazy claims it has to be crazy accurate. More accurate than other historical docs that were written around the same time. But I am saying that there is a good chance that over the last 2000 years other historical docs have been deemed redundant and therefor fallen off the grid. So its hard to verify the claims that the bible makes about the awesome claims, but we can verify many other things in the bible which make it a very accurate historical doc. Which is why I fall in camp X bc all the claims made in this book not only promote a way of life that the studies of civilization over that last 6000 years have proved to be better, but the truth in the bible is the truth and can be taken as the truth and live up to the microscope.

If you don’t know that Jesus came to save us all, if you think all Christians are dumb, mindless, God following drones, then I would challenge you to come to this weeks service! Yeah!

The Pres

I don’t have strong feelings for or against our current commander and chief, but I can say that there is one thing that would help him out greatly in my mind. He is spending a lot of time and energy raising millions for his campaign for 2012 and I think instead of raising taxing at all for anyone, he should start by giving his campaign money to help the millions out of work, or fund a special project that would put some people back to work at least for a time. More than putting a few people back to work it would send a message loud and clear that he cares about our country more than getting himself re elected. Its like the old story of a husband and wife fighting over who gets the kid. The they bring their case to the king to help them decide and the king says we will just cut him in half and you each get half. The mother cries “NO! He can have the kid” and the king grants the mother custody, but it shows that she truly loved the kid! If Obama led with his actions more would follow. There is nothing stopping Warren Buffet from gifting his “extra” money to the Gov’t, but he would never. Obama won’t either b/c they know how messed up things are. Obama needs to lead by example, by doing want he wants the rest of us to do and trust in the system, OR FIX IT!

Muse Stuff

Today I am working on a Muse cover band today. Working on syncing up the audio and the video. Right on I am waiting for the video to render so I can watch it and line up the audio and video track in Final Cut Pro. I don’t do a ton of video stuff, but I do like it! I am at Grace today working on that and number of other things for the weekend services.
